Sales Letters – To Preview Or Not To Preview, That Is The Question

Two questions on tap today. First, we will talk about how you should handle the showing of your sales letter for your launch. Should you let people preview the sales letter so they have an idea of what to expect on your launch day? Or should you only reveal the sales letter on the day of your launch so readers will be filled with anticipation?

Then I will give you a powerful split testing strategy that can help increase your revenue through Google AdSense.

Question #1: I noticed on a recent launch that they let people read the sales letter ahead of time, but it had no “buy” links. Then on the date of the launch the “buy” links appeared. What do you think of this type of strategy? Or do you prefer the sales letter to be a mystery so that the first time they get to read the sales letter is on the day of the launch?

Answer: In the case you are talking about there was a prelaunch filled with videos talking about the upcoming launch. Then he showed them the sales letter to let them know what he would be offering them. He let them see the sales letter ahead of time. Then he sent an email to his list letting them know when the sales letter would go “live” on the launch so they could swoop in and hit the “buy” links.

This strategy is used in many launches and is great because you get your sales letter done early and get it in front of your prospects right away. On most launches, the sales letter is the thing that is done last because they constantly tweak it. If you can get the sales letter done first, then go for it.

For me, though, I like to keep the sales letter a mystery. I end up getting it done at the last minute whether I write it or have someone else write it. I like to keep the element of surprise partly for anticipation and because I simply did not have the sales letter done earlier.

Question #2: Thanks to your suggestion our Google AdSense revenues have been really picking up lately. I was wondering if you had any new secret Google AdSense stuff you are willing to share. We have been implementing techniques you shared at a recent event.

Answer: I would highly recommend look at and test the colors that you are using on your AdSense. I have been hearing from several people that you can change the color on the links underneath the description. It is normally blue, but you change it to light silver and it pulls better. Split test this color change to see if it affects your Google AdSense revenue.
