The endurance of a person can be easily checked by enrolling the person in a triathlon, which is basically a race which consists of three major stages in them-swimming, running and cycling. So this game not only requires a talent in each of these individual components of the race but also, the person taking part in it must know how exactly to manage his strength in each and every portion of the race as they tend to happen back to back. Modern day triathlon also seems to take the time required in order to make the transition from one stage to another into account for the official time.
Training for triathlon in particular can be extremely hard and painfully tiring experience. The training would be done in the three components of the race and only if a complete grasp is acquired in all these three section can a person truly become a champion.
Primarily, we shall look at running. The athlete should first accustom his body with respect to the long distances that the person would have to cover. Stamina is the most important quality that is to be developed for running during training for triathlon. Right next to stamina, a close second would be speed. Both these can be developed easily by regular exercise and healthy food. The athlete must also be mentally prepared for what long distance runners call ‘the wall’. This can be overcome only by having a very strong will.
Secondly, swimming, this section is highly regarded by many as the toughest portion of the race. The training for this is to be carried out by not only becoming completely comfortable in water, but also by becoming fully efficient in any one stroke which the athlete is most comfortable with, and also manages to have the most speed without tiring oneself.
Thirdly, cycling-the most tiring section of the race. This section might seem extremely easy to the mere viewer but it takes a lot of strength and skill to master this part without completely tiring one selves.
But training for triathlon is not complete without good sleep and nutrition. A person training for triathlon, apart from all the strength and weight training should also give their body sufficient rest to rebuild the muscles and regain strength. Working out alone does not help. People tend to have the common misunderstanding that working out rigorously alone gives the necessary results faster. However, on the contrary, you end up hurting your body than doing any good. Another essential supplement for those training for triathlon is the right nutritional diet. A proper nutritional diet followed strictly helps persons training for triathlon remains fit and hence helps them perform better.
Training for triathlon is not something that can be achieved in a short while; it takes time for the body to respond to the training and show improvement in strength and endurance at various levels for all three events. One needs to exercise patience more than their muscles!
