Dog potty training and Etiquette is one of the most important parts in training a dog. Your dog must be well trained so as to not to soil the entire house. This can be only done through careful observation and coaxing and rewards. Never use force on your dog. This way you will only scare your dog and this can psychologically affect your dog. Instead gentle persuasion and training will help the dog to become the dog that you want it to be. For pups you can basically make a sand box like cats where your dog will relieve themselves when it needs to.

However dogs are not like cats and are bound to go stray from this routine. Therefore you should make a habit pattern with your dog in which your dog will only relieve themselves in a particular period of time. If you know this time then at this exact time you can take your dog to the bathroom or the area that you have fixed for your dog for such purpose and have your dog finish its business there. With repeated consistency in this routine, you will no longer have to take your dog to the designated place. When your dog feels the urge it will do by itself to finish its business.

Your dog needs to be taught right from the young age what to do where. If the habit is set in your dog’s head then your dog does not need to be led to the particular place every time it has the urge. It can finish its business by itself. Also make sure that you reward the dog on successful completion. This will encourage the dog to maintain the routine. Make sure that you make it clear to your dog that such behavior inside the house is strictly not allowed.

Be firm with your dog but never be harsh and always reward your dog with lot of love and compassion. Also you are responsible if your dog makes a mess in a public place. You should clean up your dog’s mess from a public area so that it is not a nuisance to the people who are around you. You can be fined in many parts of the world if your dog dirties public placed like footpaths etc. and hence make sure that you clean up whatever mess your dog makes. Therefore one of the first things that you need to communicate to your dog is toilet training.
