Dealing With Automobile Fires The First Time

Car accidents happen everyday and fire can happen with them as well. Did you know in 2005, 266,000 car fires were reported across the country? That is a lot of fire and 520 people died from them! Did you also know that every minute or two, a car fire is happening somewhere in the U.S. alone? Car fires can happen when you hit something hard. First you will see smoke and then it can start on fire and if the gas tank is leaking and the gas gets close to the fire, it will explode. It can also happen if you flip the car or if you smoke in the car and it lands on the floor or the seats. There are so many things in your vehicle that are flammable, such as the oil and the gasoline.

You see on TV all the time of vehicles catching on fire and what it looks like when they get the fire out. The vehicles are damaged to the point where there is nothing left of it but the body frame. The inside will be black and melted, and the seats will be burned so bad that you will be able to see right through them. The cushion will melt and get very hard like melted plastic. The plastic around the wires will be gone because the fire will melt that away and all there will be are the wires, and they also will be black and no longer good. If your car is on fire, get out of it and get far away from it because if it explodes, it will throw pieces of metal everywhere and it can hit you.

If someone is stuck in there, try to get them out as fast as you can. You do not want them to die and they will need your help. If you car starts on fire when you are attempting to make a repair to it, you will need to have a fire extinguisher on hand to get it out, so make sure you have one in your garage. The reason why I am telling you this is because it can happen. I know someone who has seen it before. You can go to any auto shop, and they will tell you that it can happen. It is not uncommon if something is not hooked up right or if there is something flammable on it.
