Another option is that you can put plastic underneath your dog and change it every twenty four hours. The vet might sell you them, they are inexpensive. That might help.

Also, depending on the place of injury, give your dog his food at an appropriate height. If he cannot easily bend the leg, elevate his food. Ask the vet for any special type of diet to be given to your dog and keep the food and the litter box as far away from each other as possible.
