When you think of mainstream movies you think of several popular studios and directors. Names such as Disney, Touchstone, Miramax, and others are now so common that they are part of folklore. What some people do not know is that even in the adult videos industry there are similarly famous studios and movie-houses.

And why would that not be the case. To begin with the level of regulation involved with adult movies is substantially more than in the case of non-adult movies. That right there requires production houses to be adept and resource-rich to get on the right side of the law.

Then there are other factors such as the general business factors: money, accounting, sales, people management, receivables, liability, and the like. Though these factors are not native to the adult movie industry, they are certainly the kind that one would expect to see requiring a large resource.

As a result bigger players will get bigger. And this will inevitably lead to a situation where there will be a formalization of the players, and soon you see the birth of an industry. This process has already taken place for the adult videos industry.

Today we find a proliferation of adult video studios. Some of the names of these studios themselves are so suggestive that I cannot include them in this article. Other names are classy and are indicative of a classier end product.

As the industry and as a consequence famous studios have grown, we are observing that there is a virtually unlimited growth in quality and formats that adult video content is available.

For instance, earlier it was just the rickety VHS videos (do they still exist). Then it was the Video Compact Discs. Those continue to exist and are superseded technologically by the DVDs, the Digital Video Disks. But the new format is the online streaming format. Thereby studios can actually charge you by the view or by the minute.

All of these technological changes seem possible only because the famous studios are getting bigger and better. But there is a reverse effect too. It is partially because of the availability of these new formats and media that there is a growth in the stable of adult movie studios that are successfully harnessing technology and turning it into a profit-generating machine.

All in all, I think that the growth of a few capable studios is a good sign for the mature entertainment industry. On the one hand it ensures a certain minimum level of quality and on the other, it encourages the industry to follow regulations and a code of decency which would have otherwise have been impossible to implement.
